Our Impact

Kaji Fahim Sakil

Fahim is an autistic child. He came to HOPE at the age of 7 years.

Previous Condition:

1. Hyper active
2. Poor sitting span
3. Poor attention
4. Poor eye-hand co-ordination
5. Poor speech
6. Dependent in activities of daily living Self injurious and crying behavior problems
7. Able to do dot joining.

Current level:

Personal: The child can eat by himself with a spoon and he is at a learning stage to wash hands before and after eating.


Social: The child is taking permission to enter the class and sits quietly with other children during class time .He is able to put his copy and pencil box inside the bag.


Academics: He is now learning his own name ,can recognize the red colour and now he is in learning stage to identify blue colour.He can recognize the numbers,1-5.


Occupational: Clean the table after a meal and wash his plate with water.
Recreational: The eye hand co-ordination of the child is improved by doing brush print, he loves to listen to music too.

Soham Banerjee

Soham is a downs syndrome child of 11 years . He was admitted in HOPE on 31.07.14.

Previous Condition:

1. Poor attention
2. Poor eye-hand co-ordination
3. Poor speech, social and cognitive skills.
4. Dependent in activity of daily living
5. Self injurious and crying behavior problems
6. Able to do dot to dot joining.
The child was given physiotherapy due to gait problem for 4 years after which he was able to walk.

Current level:

Personal: The child is now toilet trained and can eat all types of food by hand and by chewing properly. Child can wear his pant and shirt, shoe by self.


Social: The child is taking permission to enter the class and interacts with teachers and other students in the class verbally. Carries any type of two sentence massage from one class to another class, distributes Tiffin to all his classmates.


Academics: He can write his personal details ,names of fruits, vegetables, and 12 months name of the year .He can recognize up to no.8 and write numbers 1-35. 

Occupational: Cleans the table after a meal and washes his plate with water.


Recreational: Can colour in a picture with a little verbal prompt, learning dance and loves to play with classmates.


Computer: He can type his mother’s, father’s, teacher’s name school’s name, and the names of3-4 vegetables and fruits .

Jayati Shaha

Previous Condition:

1. Poor attention
2. Poor eye-hand co-ordination
3. Poor speech
4. Dependent in activities of daily living
5. Drooling problem
6. Not able to hold pencil.

Current level:

Personal: The child can eat by herself with a spoon by chewing ; she is at the learning stage to wash hand before and after eating. Dependent in washingh after toileting ,wearing clothes ,washing teeth, gargling after eating.


Social: The child takes permission to enter the class and sits quietly with other children during class time .She is able to put his copy and pencil box inside the bag.


Academics: She can hold a pencil .She is now learning to read her own name ,can recognize the red colour and now she is at learning stage to identify blue colour. She can recognize the numbers 1-5.She can verbally tell the numbers 1-10.


Occupational: Cleans the table after a meal and washes her hand with water.
Recreational: The eye hand co-ordination of the child is improved by doing hand and finger print; she loves to listen to music too. Play with other children.

Mithilesh Pandit

Mithilesh, (nick name: Ankit), is a boy with Downs Syndrome.

Previous Condition:

1. Poor attention
2. Poor eye-hand co-ordination
3. Poor speech, social and cognitive skill.
4. Dependent in activities of daily living
5. Behavior problem of crying
6. Not able to do dot to dot joining.

Current level:

Personal: The child is now toilet trained and can eat all types of food by hand and by chewing properly. He can wear his pant and shirt, wear shoe by himself.


Social: The child interacts with teachers and other students in the class non-verbally; distributes Tiffin to all his classmates.


Academics:.He can recognize 1-3 and write numbers 1-3. 


Occupational: Can clean the table after a meal and wash his plate with water.


Recreational: Can colour a picture with a little verbal prompt, he is learning dance and loves to play with classmates.

Chandril Chakraborty

Soham is a downs syndrome child of 11 years . He was admitted in HOPE on 31.07.14.

Previous Condition:

1. Could indicate toilet
2. Poor attention span
3. Hyper active
4. Poor sitting span
5. He used to eat anything whether eatable or non eatable
6. He used to play with the garbage of the dustbin and put those in his bag and pockets
7. He had pre-writing skills
8. Partially dependent in ADL.
9. He had uncontrolled appetite and used to steal and eat things from the bags of his peer group, teacher and staff and for any eatable kept there.

Current level:

After a long routine management programme, he is now completely independent in ADL. Follows simple commands very well, takes permission before living the classroom, distributes tea and tiffin, assists in market and helps in carrying the shopping bags. He can cut the threads of the small candles. He can colour well in a sketch.

Jayanta Hembram

Previous Condition:

 When Jayanta was came to HOPE school he was then in class V. At that time, he was dependent on his parents to go to school.

Current level:

Recently he is coming to school independently. Now he is in class IX. He is obedient and tries his best to learn following class V syllabus. He is being prepare to appear In the Board examination of 2021(through open school).
Now his speech is quite clear and he tries to communicate verbally. He can do marketing ,gardening and sweeping of the school’s classroom. Besides these he can dance, play football well ,draw picture well and he also learns to use computer

Rakesh Dubey

Previous Condition:

When Rakesh came to HOPE school he was then in class I . At that time, he was dependent on his parents . He had unclear speech. 110 degree db hearing loss.

Current level:

Recently he is coming to school independently. Now he is in class II. He is obedient and tries his best to learn following class II syllabus. His speech is now improved ,his speech is quite clear and he tries to communicate verbally. He can do marketing ,gardening and sweeping of the school’s classroom. Besides these he can dance, play football well ,draw picture well and he also learns to use computer.

Rupsa Karmokar

Previous Condition:

When Rupsa was came to HOPE school he was then in class I . At that time, she was dependent on his parents in all areas like ADl,social skill etc. she had unclear speech and 100 degree db hearing loss.

Current level:

Now, she is coming to school independently. She is in class VI. She is obedient and tries her best to learn following class VI syllabus. Her speech is now improved ,her speech is quite clear and she tries to communicate verbally. She can do dusting classroom furniture, washing her clothes, plates and sweeping of the school’s classroom. She is now independent in ADL area. Besides these, she can dance, draw picture well and she also learns to use computer.

Ranjit Das

Previous Condition:

When Rakesh came to HOPE school he was then in class I . At that time, he was dependent on his parents . He had unclear speech. 110 degree db hearing loss.

Current level:

Recently he is coming to school independently. Now he is in class II. He is obedient and tries his best to learn following class II syllabus. His speech is now improved ,his speech is quite clear and he tries to communicate verbally. He can do marketing ,gardening and sweeping of the school’s classroom. Besides these he can dance, play football well ,draw picture well and he also learns to use computer.

Binit Maji

He is a child with severe cerebral palsy. He is wheel chair bound.

Previous Condition:

When he came to school of HOPE his condition was:
1. No toilet training.
2. Did not response to his name
3. He used to take out the food inside his mouth because of Tongue thrust (food came out from his mouth generaly)
4. Poor grasp to hold a soft ball
5. Problem behavior of crying .

Current level:

1.He can indicate toilet by crying.
2.He can try to hold any thing .His grasping ability is improved.
3.When called from a little distance he can response by his smile and sound.
4.He can try to chew sweet, biscuit and banana and also try to swallow food.
5.He likes to go to the garden /field with his wheel chair.
6. He likes to listen music .

Sabuj Banerjee

Previous Condition:

When Sabuj came to HOPE, he could only eat dry food independently. He sat in a cut out chair table for his hyper activity. He had self biting and tearing paper problem behavior.

Current level:

Personal skill:
a)Eat rice with spoon independently.
b)He can sit on a normal chair table and do the table activities.
c)Follow the command of any teacher ,
d) Convey the message from one class to another class going independently.

 

Recreation:
a)He has interest in dance.
b) Do finger print and hand print attentively.

A Handicap is not a curse, It's just another way of living.
